MUED5516: Instrumental Methods and Materials I

3 Credits

This course will provide instruction and guided practice in teaching instrumental music at the beginning and middle school levels. Topics included are organization and administration; planning and curriculum development; assessment and evaluation of teaching and learning; instructional materials and repertoire; methods and techniques of rehearsal; observation, teaching opportunities, and reflection; 25 hours of clinical experience in elementary and/or middle school instrumental music settings; and professional development. Completion of this course helps to fulfill eligibility requirements for obtaining state licensure to teach.
